Something to cheer about: Bigrigg Bulls Under-10s, from left: Ian Jones (coach), Daniel Jones, Matthew Sempill, David Houghton, Patrick Cowman, Rhys Miller, Lewis Jolly, Lewis Park, Tony Park (coach)

In awful conditions, with strong winds and occasional rain, the eight teams involved put on some extremely impressive displays of competitive football.

The Bulls won their first two matches against Walney B and Cleator Moor Celtic. They then lost their third 2-1 against Seaton.

Showing great strength of character they then defeated their last four opponents, earning themselves 18 points.

With five wins, a score draw and a no-score draw, Seaton also finished the day on 18 points.

The Millom AFC officials withdrew to private quarters to calculate the final league table. Bigrigg had scored 16 goals and conceded three. Seaton had scored 14 and conceded two.

So Bigrigg were the league leaders thanks to an extra goal’s worth of goal difference.

Throughout the day Rhys Miller scored nine goals, Lewis Jolly bagged five and Lewis Park and Matthew Sempill netted one each.

Most of the Bulls have played together since they were in Under-7s.

They were runners up in two tournaments whilst Under-8s. The silverware was long awaited, and well deserved.
