Nigel Beaty: ‘The RFU is committed’

Volunteers are being given the chance to get involved coaching both Tag Rugby and the conventional 15-a-side contact game, with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) funding seminars and specialist two and three hour practical classes.

Nigel Beaty, community rugby coach for Eden, said: "You start with the level one qualification which is a requirement of all club coaches.

"The RFU is committed to ensuring coaches are well-supported and capable of providing a really enjoyable experience for all participants through a range of qualifications, courses, seminars and support services to coaches."

Newcastle Falcons' Cumbrian academy coach Richard Metcalfe said: "You can make everyone better if you're a good coach.

"Whatever that improvement may be, whether it's turning them into world champions or good enough to play for their local seconds team, it can be hugely rewarding."
